Hello Kumunity!

I am Nura Umar. I feel honored to be here and to work with the rest of the support team at Kumu. Looking forward to connecting with you and supporting you on a day-to-day basis!

I’ve done IT for most of my career, having studied Computer Science at the University in Nigeria, followed by professional certifications and trainings. Most of my experience has been around field/community work and development work in the non-governmental sector, where I mostly worked with teams who provide direct program implementation and humanitarian intervention to communities and less privileged people in Nigeria.

I first learned about Kumu back in 2019, when the organization I worked with used the tool for stakeholder mapping exercises to develop our country office strategy. Being in IT, I happened to be the main person for the entire mapping workshop.

Fast forward 3+ years, and I got the opportunity to work with the amazing team at Kumu. Together we’ll do our part, supporting all of you in the community and your efforts to make lasting changes in the world, using tools like Kumu and Sticky Studio.

On a personal level: I was born and raised in the northern part of Nigeria by parents who haven’t really made much progress in western education. Nevertheless, they made sure we all went to school. I’ve been married to my lovely wife for 10 years now, and we have been blessed with 2 boys. I’m a bit of an introvert, love to travel, and I enjoy helping others. I spend more time on my computers than anything else — luckily, my wife and kids know this and understand. When I’m not working, I’m usually studying or playing video games with the kids.

I’m super excited for what the future holds and look forward to connecting with each of you!

See you soon!

Nura
